Five Haverhill Police Officers Graduate from Academy

Friday saw the graduation of 46 police officers from the Northern Essex Community College/Methuen Police Academy.

Among them were Albert Betances, Kevin DeCarvalho, Katelyn Tully, David Rodriguez and Kevin Tracy, who will be joining the Haverhill Police Department.

Betances and Tracy received awards for finishing first academically in their respective platoons, while Tully finished second in her platoon academically, according to a Haverhill Police Department statement.

The Police Recruit Officer Training Academy opened in 2015 at Northern Essex Community College.

Recruits go through an intensive training program that meets daily Monday through Friday for 25 weeks. Training focuses on constitutional law, prevention and intervention, community policing, domestic violence, elder abuse, victims’ rights and other topics. All training takes place on the Haverhill Campus except for firearms training and emergency driving techniques which take place at off-campus locations.
