Haverhill firefighters prepared for the worst when they responded to a report of a car striking a gas meter at a populous condominium complex.

There were no injuries reported when a driver struck his garage door, building support and a gas meter around 5:30 p.m., Monday, outside 39 Casablanca Court. Firefighters cleared the area until it was determined no gas entered the building.

National Grid sent a crew to the scene to shut off the gas and replace the damaged meter. The Ford Edge sport utility vehicle received damage to the passenger side front and fender.
