Fee To Play Boys Hockey Exceeds $400 at Pentucket High School

Throughout the month of August, WHAV provides a daily report counting down to the first day of school in Greater Haverhill.

Pentucket Regional High School athletic user fees for the 2017-2018 school year range from $100 to $425. For the fall season, fees are $100 for freshman field hockey, freshman soccer, cross country and cheering; $175 for JV and varsity soccer, JV and varsity field hockey and golf; $200 for football and $375 for volleyball co-op. The fee for volleyball is paid to Georgetown High School.

Some of the highest fees are for winter sports. The highest user fee is for boys ice hockey, at $425. The fee to participate in a co-op swimming program with Triton Regional High School is $300. The fee for girls ice hockey, which is a co-op program with Haverhill and North Andover high schools, has not yet been set.

Bus routes for Haverhill Public Schools and Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School 2017-2018 school year are now posted to their respective websites. For Haverhill Public bus routes, visit hillies.org and click on “Transportation” under the “Departments” tab. For Whittier routes, visit whittiertech.org and click “Bus Routes” under the “For Parents” tab.

Sandown North Elementary School Assistant Principal Nancy Stafford reports a number of new arrivals and changes among the staff this fall.

Teresa Bolduc, a fifth-grade teacher transfers from Memorial Elementary School in Newton, N.H., where she also taught fifth grade.

Cali O’Sullivan will be a new first-grade teacher. She comes to Sandown from Golden Brook Elementary School in Windham, where she was the Literacy Success teacher.

Sandown North teachers Sherry Bollhorst and Amy Difeo are moving to the second grade team. Bollhorst taught fifth grade last year, and Difeo taught first. A new second-grade classroom was added at Sandown North this year.

Two educators are transferring from other elementary schools in the Timberlane district. Kristen Seymour is coming from Pollard School as Sandown North’s new psychologist. Jennifer Robinson transfers from Danville Elementary to teach first grade at North.

Comprehensive Grammar School in Methuen has scheduled an open house session for families that have one or more parents who work the second or third shift.

Principal Christopher Reeve said this is the second year that the CGS has made arrangements for a special open house for parents who can’t attend evening sessions because of their work hours.

On Monday, Aug. 28, kindergarten open house is from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the second- and third-shift open house from 11 a.m. to noon. Parents of first- and second-graders are scheduled to attend from 5 to 6 p.m. and parents of students in grades 3 and 4 are asked to visit from 6 to 7 p.m.

“Though you may be free (from 11 to noon) as well, please attend the scheduled Open House for your child’s grade level if you do not work the second or third shift. Thanks for understanding and helping the CGS better support and communicate with all of our families,” Reeve said.

On Tuesday, Aug, 29, which is also the first day of school for CGS students in grades 1-8, open houses for grades 5 and 6 are from 5 to 6 p.m. and for grades 7 and 8 from 6 to 7 p.m.

Haverhill Public Schools open their doors to students in grades 1 through 12 on Tuesday, Aug. 29. Kindergarten begins Sept. 5. All Haverhill students will attend for a half-day on Friday, Sept. 1, and enjoy a day off for Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 4.

Methuen: Aug. 29

Whittier: Aug. 29 for freshmen and new students; Aug. 30 for all students
