Evangelia Karapanagiotis, 92, Seamstress

Evangelia Karapanagiotis, 92, of Haverhill, died unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 8, at her residence.

She was born in Skalohori, Lesvos, Greece, October 2, 1925, the daughter of the late Demitrios and Stavroula (Stavris) Hatzigianellis, and was educated in Greece.

She came to the United States in 1967 and was employed as a seamstress at the former Samuel Roberts on River Street in Haverhill.

Karapanagiotis was a longtime member of Holy Apostles Sts. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church in Haverhill.

For over 60 years she was married to the late Stavros Karapanagiotis who died in 2011. She was also the mother of the late Dimitrios and Jimmy Karapanagiotis and sister of the late Ourania Lialios, Alexandra Nousias and Athena Karageorge.

Karapanagiotis is survived by her son, Dan Karapanagiotis and his wife Roberta of Newton, N.H., as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours on Sunday, Feb. 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Her funeral will be held on Monday, Feb. 12, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. in Holy Apostles Sts. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 154-156 Winter St., Haverhill. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. Contributions in her memory may be made to Holy Apostles Sts.
