Battle Grounds Coffee Company has something big brewing: A second shop at Lawrence’s Sal Lupoli-developed Riverwalk complex.

Co-founder Dana DeFranco, who owns the coffee shop and café at 39 Washington St., with her Navy SEAL husband Sal, made the long-rumored announcement official during a Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce breakfast on Friday, Nov. 9.

“Battle Grounds is excited to announce our expansion to our second location in Lawrence in the Riverwalk. We’re expected and hopeful to be open by December,” the small business owner said.

The three-year-old coffee house is currently hiring staff for the Lawrence location, with preference given to veterans, DeFranco said.
