Diana DiZoglio is settling into new Beacon Hill digs on the senate side of the Statehouse after taking the oath of office Wednesday for her first term as a senator for the 1st Essex District.

DiZoglio, one of 11 female senators seated under President Karen Spilka, was among five new legislators taking the oath this week.
“I cannot wait to get straight to work for you, and am very humbled at the opportunity,” Methuen’s DiZoglio wrote in a social media message to constituents after the swearing-in ceremony.
Taking over for former Sen. Kathleen O’Connor Ives, DiZoglio begins a two-year term representing residents in Haverhill and Methuen, along with several other cities and towns. She won the seat after defeating Republican opponent Alexander Leighton Williams by a landslide in November.
DiZoglio’s new role comes after six years spent in the House of Representatives advocating for residents in the 14th district, which includes Haverhill.
Her new staff includes Chief of Staff Andrew Carden, Legislative Director Victoria Nadel and Communications Director Lauren LeBlanc. Nick Pangakis serves as DiZoglio’s legislative aide and policy advisor, while Peter Francis pitches in as a part-time aide.
