Dennis Tuttle, 68, Environmental Engineer and Conservationist

Dennis Tuttle, 68, of Haverhill, passed away on Monday, May 7.

He was born in Greenfield, Mass. on January 24, 1950, son of the late Jesse and Rita (Sevene) Tuttle. Dennis was retired after a successful and productive career as an environmental engineer and was a conservationist his entire life.

Dennis lived every day to the fullest, appreciating all of life’s simple pleasures. He was intelligent and full of quiet wisdom. He was quick to laugh, and enjoyed the outdoors, a quality meal, and good conversation. He was a good listener and quick to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a thoughtful, lively, playful, creative, and curious person, fascinated by Nature and science, and engaged in lifelong learning.

He was a humble man of faith, studying and living Christianity in all he did. He loved hiking in the woods and was a longtime member of the Mass Audubon Society, other activities included flying over the mountaintops in his plane, birding at Plum Island, pruning his bonsai trees, panning for gold in Alaska, tending to his kitties, fish, turtle, and gardens, and spending time with family and friends, particularly his grandchildren, who he adored.

His surviving family members include his loving wife, Helen (Ferrante) Tuttle and son Eric Johanson; two children Allison Tuttle, and Jeffrey Tuttle and wife Nicole and two grandchildren, Brady and Liliana; brothers Steven Tuttle and wife Lyn, Thomas Tuttle and wife Bonni, and Peter Tuttle. He was a kind and loving husband, father, Grampie, and friend and will be greatly missed.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 11, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill from 4 – 8 p.m. Services will begin Saturday in the funeral home at 10 a.m.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 So. Main Street, Haverhill at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill.

Luncheon will follow.
