Haverhill Athletic Hall of Famer Carlos Peña appears on WHAV’s Good Sports talk program, beginning at 6 p.m., on 97.9 WHAV FM.

WHAV Sports Director Paul Ryan pre-recorded his interview Peña. Ryan is joined by co-host Tommy Morgan for the live, weekly program.

Major League Baseball player Peña was among the honorees at 2017’s inaugural Haverhill High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Peña, a 1995 graduate, went on to play professional baseball 14 years. He retired in 2014, after 14 seasons and a career of 286 home runs. Before baseball, he tried track and swimming.

The hall of Fame was established to honor former students, coaches and administrators who excelled in the field of athletics while attending HHS and for their accomplishments after high school. Its purpose is to perpetuate the memory of those persons who have brought distinction, honor, and excellence to Hillie athletics and familiarize the entire community and alumni with the high school’s rich athletic history.

The public may call the program at 978-374-1900.
