It may not be second nature to take out a membership or news “subscription” to a radio station, but 97.9 WHAV FM isn’t a typical radio station. It is a publicly owned, nonprofit radio station, delivering more local news, more often than all other sources combined.

The only Haverhill-based news source provides all the news you expect: Haverhill Local News, Region, Education, Crime, Community Spotlight, Business Bulletin, Obituaries and more.

Membership has benefits, including the ability to comment on articles, review archived stories and more. Most importantly, membership helps pay for reporting the many exclusive and important stories that otherwise would remain untold. Become a member today. It’s tax-deductible.

I was blessed to have the opportunity to work with Edwin at WHAV from July 1981 to May 1985. A real gentleman and a very funny guy with some great stories.

Mr. Johnson was an incredible person. I took his public speaking class in High School. Helped me to overcome my fair of speaking in front of a group. He also helped me out in so many ways , that I am truly grateful for. He was a genuine person who would do anything for anyone.

Not the worst idea I ever heard. But, I’m guessing that the club will not be filled with Groveland firefighters

Edwin Johnson was my teacher of Public Speaking at HHS. How fortunate were his students and his audience.
