Andover attorney Carol-Ann Fraser has been recommended for a position as an Associate Justice of the District Circuit Court, Governor Charlie Baker’s office said last week.

Should her appointment be confirmed, Fraser would come to the District Court’s circuit division from two-year stint as the general counsel and assistant executive director to the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission.

“I am confident that Attorney Fraser’s familiarity with the trial court system, honed over more than two decades in many courtrooms, will allow her to run fair, efficient and effective courtroom sessions,” Lt. Govenor Karyn Polito said of Fraser. “Her longstanding and deep commitment to the Lawrence community will be well received by the bench, bar and community which she will serve with distinction and honor, if confirmed by the Council.”

Fraser’s nomination must now be confirmed by the Governor’s Council, a non-partisan, 21-member committee formed in 2015 to impartially screen applicants.

Andover’s Fraser established her private civil litigation practice, Fraser Law Office, in her hometown in 1995. During her career, the Suffolk University grad has served as president of the Lawrence Bar Association and volunteered as a mediator in Essex County Superior Court. She has also donated her time to the Boys & Girls Club, serving on their Board of Advisors and Board of Directors for Neighborhood Legal Services.
