Atkinson-area churchgoers have no excuse not to get their ashes this Ash Wednesday. In an effort to greet more parishoners, Pastor Jim Thomas of the Atkinson Congregational Church is taking to the streets to issue blessings on the first day of Lent.

Thomas will be on hand in the church’s parking lot to administer ashes to those who drive up, without ever leaving their cars.

Drivers can receive ashes from 8 to 9 a.m. or 4 to 5 p.m. at 101 Main St. in Atkinson. The church is also holding a traditional Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m.
