Andy Vargas Will Be Sworn In as State Representative Wednesday

Rep.-Elect Andy Vargas will be officially sworn in to office on Wednesday, just eight days after being named 3rd Essex House of Representatives successor to Brian S. Dempsey.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place at the Massachusetts Statehouse in the House Chamber at 12 p.m., Vargas said in a Sunday email to campaign supporters. Governor Charlie Baker will administer the oath of office and Vargas will deliver remarks before celebrating at a post-ceremony reception.

Vargas intends to resign from his job as senior marketing manager at Lowell-based Entrepreneurship for All (EforAll) once he takes office. He will remain on the City Council until the end of the year, when his first term expires. Having won re-election to the Council, Vargas will resign before the second term begins.

  1. Hey, Jack from Haverhill,…you and Shawn going to shoot into the city for the swearing in?

You should take advantage of this opportunity, as it will be the closest you and Shawn Toohey ever get to the State House.
