Alan F. LaPointe, 59, Groveland Volunteer Firefighter

Alan F. LaPointe, 59, passed away peacefully, Sunday, Oct. 8, surrounded by his family.

He was the husband of Gail (Legere). LaPointe was born in Beverly, Aug. 31, 1958, son of the late Emile and Claudia (Michalowski) LaPointe. He grew up in Salem, attending local schools and graduating from Salem High School. LaPointe joined the U.S. Air Force after graduation and served honorably for more than eight years. He served in England, Korea and throughout the United States. He was a volunteer firefighter for the town of Groveland and a fire dispatcher for Hanscom USAF Base. He was married to his wife Gail for 36 years and enjoyed his life with her and their two children.

He loved music and was an accomplished guitarist and singer. He enjoyed the outdoors, times with his family and friends and was an avid hockey fan and enjoyed watching and playing Hockey.

LaPointe is survived by his wife Gail of Groveland; daughter, Sarah LaPointe and significant other Nils of Merrimac; son, Bryan LaPointe and wife Allison of Billerica; three brothers, Richard Lapointe and wife Amanda, David and wife Linda and Thomas; two sisters, MaryAnn and husband Joseph and Laurie and husband Daniel; and several nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Calling hours are Friday, Oct. 13, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Grondin–Carnevale Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill. A funeral mass to celebrate his life will be Saturday, at 11 a.m., from St. John the Baptist Church, 110 Lincoln Ave., Haverhill. Burial follows at Riverview Cemetery, Groveland.
