Guess they didn’t want fries with that. Haverhill Police arrested two women at a Main Street McDonald’s Thursday in an alleged fentanyl drug transaction that occurred while one woman’s 4-year-old son waited in the car.
Natividad Sanchez, 30, of 26 Kendall St., Lawrence was acting as a drug runner when she met up with New Hampshire’s Rebecca Coyman, 24, to exchange drugs for cash in the fast food parking lot just before 2 p.m.
Haverhill Police had been monitoring the area of Main Street and Plaistow Road for narcotics violations at the time of the bust.
Authorities watched as a woman identified as Coyman sat in a pickup truck for approximately 20 minutes without purchasing food. Later, a vehicle driven by Sanchez pulled into the space next to Coyman’s and Coyman got into the car’s passenger seat. When they ran vehicle registrations, police found Sanchez’ vehicle had several local and State Police inquiries.
Police approached Sanchez’ vehicle with guns drawn. Coyman was found in possession of 16 grams of fentanyl, 3.3 grams of cocaine and 1 gram of crack cocaine, along with $45. Sanchez had $1,259 in her possession at the time of arrest, police said.
Sanchez was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment of a child, in addition to two counts of distribution of a class B drug. She was also charged with fentanyl trafficking and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
Dover, N.H. resident Coyman was charged with two counts of drug possession to distribute, along with fentanyl trafficking and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
The women were arraigned in Haverhill District Court sitting in Newburyport on Friday.
