Doris Mae (Lefebvre) Smith, 85, a longtime resident of Hadley West Apartments in Haverhill, passed away Dec. 7, at Prescott House Nursing Home, North Andover, after a brief illness.
Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of, Leon and Genevieve M. (Parent) Lefebvre. Educated in Haverhill, she was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1947. Smith was employed at Western Electric and retired from Lucent Technologies after 20 years.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Smith lived for her family and cherished their time spent together. The widow of Stewart Smith who died in 1975, she is survived by her children; Dennis A. Smith, of Sarasota, Fla., Linda M. Bergeron and her husband, William, of Methuen, Richard Smith and his wife, Gloria J., of Port Charlotte, Fla., Gordon P. Smith and his wife, Maureen, of Danville, N.H., Gail M. Villers and her husband, Ernest., of Haverhill, Robin J. Walker and her husband, Kenneth, of Fla., 16 grandchildren, and t25 great grandchildren. She also leaves a sister Louise Chaput and her husband, Russell, of Haverhill, and Joanne Hicks and her husband, Forest, of Georgetown, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Faith A. Smith, and siblings, Alice Lefebvre, Florence Allen, Gerard Lefebvre, Pauline Chapdelaine, Leon Lefebvre, and Diane Cheeney.
Friends and family are invited to call on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. Haverhill. Funeral services for Smith will immediately follow the period of visitation at 8 in the funeral home. Committal services for Smith will take place in Linwood Cemetery on Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m.
