Donald R. Brown, 73, of Haverhill, died Monday, September 15 at his residence, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Billerica, October 11, 1940, son of the late Harry and Beatrice (Hughes) Brown, and was educated in the Chelmsford school system. After graduating Mr. Brown enlisted in the United States Air Force and attained the rank of E-1. He was employed as a CNA in local area nursing homes. In 2006 he retired from Holy Family Hospital, Methuen, where he was employed as a sterile processing technician for more than 15 years. Mr. Brown was a loving and caring husband, father and friend to many. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, time spent at the beach and especially collecting penguins. Mr. Brown’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Tsac and her team from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Mr. Brown as well as his family.
His survivors include his wife of four years, June T. (Oickle) Brown of Haverhill, a son, Christopher Brown of Ft. Collins, Colo., a daughter, Jen Bodshaug of Orlando, Fla, a special loving daughter Sharon Cannata and her husband David of Haverhill, four special grandchildren and nine special great grandchildren. Mr. Brown was the husband of the late Susan Brown and brother of the late Harry Brown.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his calling hours on Thursday, September 18 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. His Funeral Service will immediately follow calling hours on Thursday at 6:15 at the Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
